prose is beautifull.. but poetry to me is the language of the heart.. what i feel comes out easier (according to me) in poetry.. what suprises me is that very few people i know (me included) donot appreciate the beauty of poetry in our regional languages. personally i can read hindi only( that too with grreeaaatt difficulty) so this is one of the few quotes that i received via sms that i saved..not sure who wrote them .. but.. really love them. so here goes...

and truly...poetry is the language of the heart,no two ways abt it.
i love good lyrics.and most of our hindi songs are but poems set in tunes (not the recent stuff).esp those written by gulzar.
and songs of rafi, hemant kumar,kishore are jus lovely.
one of my favorites is 'chingaari koi bhadke','chaudhvin ka chand' by rafi..and 'yeh raatein yeh mausam ,nadi ka kinara' sung by kishore.all of them are simple yet beautful.
as far as regional languages go...i can read telugu too..and absolutely love good poems...but i really wish i could write some!
not heard the 'chingari koi bhadke..' but the others yeah... u know which one i really like.. 'phoolon ka taaron ka.'- hare rama hare krishna, and my all time fav i listen to it everyday.. is 'o mere dil ke chain'- kishore kumar.. heard it?
and about the writing poetry unless you attempt it you'll never know.. :)

but i absolutely love 'o mere dil ke chain'.esp the lines

and i was wondering...sometimes jus plain music without any lyrics too sounds so amazing and conveys so much.like the theme song of the movie 'bombay' by rehman.not a single word but so poetic!

i really like 'naa jao sainyaan..' from sahib biwi aur ghulam.. depressing song.. but beautiful..
esp this line..'main tumhari dasii janam ki pyaasi..' direct dude! but really like the song. and 'pal pal dil ke paas'..

i totally agree with u...ppl dont listen to that stuff cause they think it dosent make sense anymore,..actually its more meaningful and musical than it is nowadays...thats wy the remixes sell.
pakeezah is a classic, both in terms of its story and its music...every song is a gem.esp due the lyrics....
and the lines u mentioned..they sound even more beautiful cause the background music jus stops and u can only hear her voice, can almost hear her breathin...amazing!

alwyz thought poetry was kind of a fool's dream..something as escapist as cable tv or drugs..but we all need our delusions..
poetry escapism?? umm.. i guess we are all entitled to our opinions.. ...but how is it escapist? i mean i dont know about others when i write it comes form the heart. whether i like it or not!
and personally poetry conveys so much more than prose.. more beautifully.. and yeah we all need our delusions. but poetry is not one of them. for me atleast.
