finally saw 'rang de basanti'... and to be honest im not too impressed by the film.. it started out nicely.. because more than tears and horror.. humor gets people more involved in any situation/ incident. it creates a bond. but i thought that the film meandered towards the end...
but one point that struck me during the film was that when shraman joshi (i think..) says " so what we'll kill the defense minister..?!" ......the audience laughed.. the point of the film was lost.. and towards the end became a farce...
the film is trying to get the audience aged 20-25 to react, to stand up.. revive nationalism.. patriotism..etc etc.. but a section of the targeted audience laughs at one of the pivotal scenes in the film... (i am no different.. it sounded ridiculous to me also..) then it makes me wonder if there is something wrong with just our reaction ....or the way the writers and film makers seem to take the targeted age group for granted.
rehash some old plot and preach to the audience about the freedom struggle, and that gets the point across? right? wrong! i wish they would acknowledge that we have minds that go along with the it- industry sponsored bank balances.

yeah ...the movie does lose the audiences attention somewhere down the line....dint match my expectations too....
but i really loved the basic aim of the story....to awaken the same spirit of revolution among todays youth that burned in the hearts of the fredom 'fighters' who believed in violence as a way to achieve freedom.
They believed in a cause.they refused to be indifferent to their lives and tooks steps to change them.
the director/writer,whoever chose those characters, than someone like gandhi etc...cause its easier for the young people to relate to them.cause even we experience curbs on our freedom to speak, express, and sometimes the right to live also in the present day india.
and yeah sharman joshis lines were a a bit out of the place..(but hey !..cant expect 2 much from a bollywood movie..)
but aamir was awesome...if ur familiar with the general northie/delhi/punjabi accented type of college humor....u would love every sentence he uttered on screen.i think his character is what gels with the audience right from the start.was good fun watchin it....amazing songs too.(i am a rahman fan!)
anyways...the best part of the movie is when aamir goes on air...talkin about taking charge of our lives and our country.
p.s: hey ...u can always comment whatever u like,on my blog...i like honest comments....everybodys entitled to their opinion...i respect that.
and nice to know u checked out graphikjam .yeah the beach pics were good...kinda spontaneous....geting ur feet wet in the waves...small things that bring the smile back on ur face.
first: aamir was awesome... shramaan was funny also.. in a more slapstick kind of a way..
second: completely and totally agree with u tht using bhagat singh etc as role models instead of gandhi was a smart move.. the audience could identify with the freedom fighters ... to an extent atleast!
third: yeah i think we should stop treating the country as a 'third person'... its our country.. so we should make an effort.. we take so much hence we should atleast give back a little..
fourth: ;) yeah the waves, sea, sand, surf... awesome combo! nice sequence of pics i must say..
