tis seems to be the season to get married. one very good friend tied the knot yesterday. and its the first time i have ever attended a typical christian wedding. it was just like in the movies. flowers. bridesmaids. best man. white gown. veil. i do's and the kiss! :P i did feel terribly out of place in my pretty pink sari. even 60 year ols ladies were in gowns and very very hawt attire. and all of a sudden i felt very old. damn it should have worn some partay attire for the wedding. not like i can wear it to any hindu weddings! :P all the groom's homies were in white suits with ties and looking very dashing i must say. and the bridesmaids were in off white gowns with gold bows. the whole affair was one and a half hours long. and there were only 60 people at the wedding. such a refreshing change from the nonsense that constitutes most konkani (maybe most hindu) weddings!
but one thing i was waiting for was the question of anyone having any objection to the marriage speak now or forever hold your peace and all that jazz.. that never came up.. lol.. not that anyone would have any objection but i was kinda waiting for that. (the question that is not the damn anwer!)

lol...thinking of it....i'd actaully feel odd at a christian wedding....with the situational "music"....no loud bang/hiss of dhols or the shehnai...no crying kids running free....and the bride and groom with "untired,non-sweaty, smiling faces"(and consequently better photgraphs...lol)...
i wish hindu weddings could be taken back to basics....become more personal,decent..and less of gaudy publicity stunts !
anyways...what do you suppose happens to the guy with the objection, if ever there is one??...do they quietly take him outside and thrash him...??..hmmm.i wonder.. :) very possible...
aww.. weddings are such fun. :-)
Saris are sexy - no gown can equal that ;-) so spill, how was your trip and show?
Happy New year btw!
they tell me i have no ambition.
is sitting in an airconditioned office ambition?
six-figure salaries are ambition?
creativity is'nt ambition?
in this band wagon of 9-5 jobs
with no time to breathe,
where is the time for creativity?
everything is beautiful.
beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.
all sprout these lines.
cliches!
practice what you preach.
i have no time to stand and stare,
i have miles to go before i sleep.
but the question is,
when you do sleep will you regret the miles?
I was reading that poem, when I came across something someone I know wrote sometime back:
Dead Mind Waking
"Staring
At a stupid monitor
All day long
Has,
Perhaps,
Made a morgue of my mind,
What with cadavers reeking
At every unattended corner,
Putrefying corpses,
Of wishes conjured
And ambitions conceived,
Gaping and Simpering
Rather insolently
At my unenviable emptiness!
But...
Managing morgues
With decaying corpses
That remain dead,
I surmise,
Cannot be
Half as trying as
How things would be
When the dead ones rise"
Too many someone's there.
@jyoey: was wondering why the poem was sounding familiar!! then realised its my own..lol!
Guys usually don't dream or plan about their weddings in advance. But i'm just so captivated by the simplicity and beauty in christian weddings that I've always been planning to do something between a Traditional Hindu ceremony n a christian one. ;)
@ sreicanth: u never wondered wat would happen if the objection came from the brides jilted louver :P
