tuesday was a close friends birthday and she had a partay at her house. there was good food, alcohol, nice people, draammaa ( cause her grandmother found the liquor bottles..) but what i realised was that not everyone invited to it ( invitations were handled by another friend;) was welcomed with open arms... they werent hated, but not loved either. some where in between.

which brings me to my point i dont believe in large birthday bashes/ weddings.. because i donot care for 98% of the poeple in my life. for the 2% that i do... well they know it and will be there and will hopefully be happy for me. so the day after the party i was just asking my friend if she actually enjoyed her birthday or was it just something she was forced to put up with. she said the 2% made up for the 98%. ;)

yeah "functions" principally serve as means to attract attention.
the social gathering and sharing joys with people is jus a reason to let the world acknowledge (if u want them to..that is)that ur important to them.thats it.

you know, it's true.. but what if due to some extremely genuine reason.. some one person of your 2% fame cldnt be there when it mattered..? wld you be hurt, or wld you be mature and understand it..or at least try to ??

Nice point by Schmetterling.
As they say its a dynamic world and good to be only self sufficient.

I hate to cut the cake short and don't think this is the place for this but anyway..I don't really believe in the idea of celebrating birthdays..or any days fdr that matter...yeah yeah u were born on the day and shit but if u're gnna celebrate your life, why arent u doind it everyday?? To me , thee so called 'days' are just excuses for celebration...
On a lighter note, I occasionally do take friends out to dinner or booze on some of my brithdays, but thats only to keep these ppl happy...and avoid issues..however i always prefer a quiet peaceful birthday with just one or 2 ppl, smokes, booze n good rock...nothing like it..you should try it some time..

@ schmetterling: i would def try to understand! the 2% is like my family and if i like poeple then i can be very accomodating. which is a good and a bad thing...

@ j sea: *sigh* no matter how much i try self sufficency is not happening. i tend to depend a lot on people around me(the 2% that is) for emotional support...

@ funnylifian: i completely agree with you. and this was a friends birthday.. i cant tell her how to have her party can i?? my own b'days are pretty much what u described.. though its more than 2 friends.. but close friends never the less..

..oh and completely agree with the taking some 'friends' out to 'avoid issues' ;)
