well i have always wondered about band loyalty. i am drawn to the music, irrespective of genre, band, band members, race or language. and i realised this just some time back. but this does raise the all important question do u just reject a band/ musican if one song is bad?? or do you raise them to the status of god 'cause of one good song?? fickle audience indeed. but its worth a thought aint it??

god status can only be achieved with consistency.consistently good i.e.
we've all known and loved one hit wonders...we dont hate them because of their singular accomplishment.
heck, i'd still do the frikkin macarena if they played it somewhere and if i was drunk enough.(but should it be ALLOWED to be played anymore is the question.but honestly, who doesnt love a little tackiness?)
so anyway, to answer your questions...(i know they were rhetoric but indulge me) I don't think you can hate a band because of a single bad attempt...or love them because of one glorious hit.
