my penchant for anti sociality (is it even a word:) is prevalent during festival times as well it seems! but the festival did remind of a few things.. one that if i had gubby still he would have been a year old. :( second, i do not have ANY photos with my family members. lol.. so on saturday morning i get up, get dressed (much to shock/ amazement of parents) and get ready to take photos. so i get the whole family together, all dressed to the hilt; now comes the problem, each family member thrives on anti social behaviour of various kinds. so each person 'stands' for the photos like they have never seen the other. after much coaxing we have a semblance of family bonding occuring in the photographs.
for the record each family member expressed how 'happy' i looked at various points of the photo session. if they only knew i am a happy person!! (when they aren't around.. ;)
besides cordial photo sessions, i went around the neighbourhood distributing sweets ( a first for me in recent times), and some of the neighbours had no idea who i was and vice versa.. and talking about sweets i miss the fact that diwali used to be an elaborate function till some years back. we used to have 'chefs' coming at home to make the sweets. and the excitement that surrounded diwali well.. just doesnt exist any more. now its more about whos wearing what, and how much did that cost. *sigh*
not that i am a fmaily person, but there are somethings money cant buy.

lol!..
we indians have an obsession/itch to 'dress','stand' and 'pose' for the pics...as though it wouldnt look official and authentic otherwise.....crazy!!
and abt "whos wearin what" business....i hate to sound generalising/prejudiced...but i i think its the women who go take so much pain tryin to look like a jewellery shop mannenquin...i cant bear the sight of women with so much gold on....i wonder how they can feel comfortable in a country like india wearin heavy silk sarees and drowned in gold!!.......i mean what are u tryin to do??....trying to divert/attract attention from ur faces and bodies???
its something that has been an eternal mystery to me!
and yeah i think u must have surprised quite some ppl in the neighbourhood...distributing sweets and all...but festival times are great for networking...seriously!!
anyways...yeah..before i forget...how'd the cracker bursting go???
hey.. no cracker bursting for me.. all the dogs in my street (who i louve!) get so damn scared.. i feel bad.. besides.. i dont get the point of loud noisy crakcers anyway.. but i love the colourful ones..the rockets and stuff..
and no silk sarees and all plain cotton kurtas for college and money from grandma 'dearest';P
money eh??? i can see the family bonding's motivation !!!
@ schmetterling: actually i NEVER knew tht i was gettin money.. after the usual family bonding. grandma gives me the money.. must say im kinda rich now.. btw i got the pink i pod!! ;P its electric pink!!
sweet !! pink is an all time favorite color, i have a pink motorazr :) you know, when i was younger, and in all these festivals, all i had to do was fall on some older person's feet, and that was at least 101 bucks, so an average day's earning on a festival like pongal or diwali would be about 600-800 bucks :) but my mom would always take it all away and put it in this little purse like structure saying she was saving it up, and she did it till i was in 2nd year college, my little red purse had over 10 grand :)
lol.. wante the pink moto razr meself.. but brand loyaltylies with nokia.. :P the bling dolce and gabbana razr thingy is also hawt! aand 10,000 grand!!! gurl wat u planing to do with the monay??
my mom put it in the bank account man, and then before I came to the US, she gave it to me to spend on my clothes.. i mean, hello, i thought in addition to everything else, i'll get to blow it up :) but parents will always be parents..!! yeah, the dolce version is nice, but it's too 'bling' ..!!
cant see your blogspot add...
